style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 30%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>&#8211;<strong>Sensor networks are becoming increasingly ubiquitous, ranging over a wide variety of applications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-They are forming a ground pillar in the digital transformation, for example in infrastructure and systems with high societal impacts such as <strong>air quality monitoring<\/strong>, energy networks, advanced manufacturing, and natural gas trading networks<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;<strong>Conventional metrology has been limited to individual measurement units and sensors.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-However, new aspects such as <strong>self-calibration, co-calibration<\/strong>, the use of <strong>data redundancy<\/strong> for inconsistency, <strong>drift detection<\/strong>, dependencies, <strong>correlations<\/strong>, as well as new challenges due to the size, <strong>mixed quality<\/strong> and volatility of data, impose the need for a fundamental metrological joint effort that can only be undertaken by bringing together world leading <strong>National Metrology Institutes<\/strong> expertise in network metrology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;<strong>Urgency for advancing sensor network metrology is rooted in its potential to enhance several fields<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><figure
